Recently in a last massive push to finish production for many of the series that I am contributing to (Proper Manors and a few others which have not yet been announced) I was able to direct a few scenes and spent a full day on camera crew running one of the three cameras that were involved in providing coverage for every scene. It never ceases to amaze me how lowered production costs allow anyone with energy and enthusiasm to really jump head first into providing content.

Twelve hours on camera crew reminded me that I am not as  young as I once was.  I don’t recall ever having been so exhausted.

A trend that the democratization of video has created is a massive amount of content.  There are more TV series than ever before and more venues of distribution.  I expect that this will continue to grow and start to become more of an issue than ever.  Some series are garnering attention (such as the worthy “Transparent”) that would never have been given airtime with traditional networks.

Since there are more series there will be vying for attention.  I expect this to be an ongoing theme and more critical than ever in 2016. In the meantime, Happy New Year!
